For decades this mid-1960s building on Stuyvesant Square was part of Beth Israel's hospital campus, used as a healthcare and community facility. Earlier in its life part of it housed nurses' residences, and a pedestrian bridge tied it to the hospital next door.
After the acquisition, the building was taken back to its structure: the bridge came down, every system was replaced, and floor-to-ceiling windows and a new paneled facade were installed. It reopened as 87 rental residences, 22 of them affordable, with leasing beginning in February 2026. The five-story companion building at 321 East 17th Street is being converted into nine more homes.
