Joel Wertzberger
Deal Artist in Chief
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Joel Wertzberger is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Joyland Group, and is known to friends and acquaintances as “Mr. Joyland.” He is also co-founder of Hamilton Eastman, the Brooklyn-born holding company he launched with Jack Wolcowitz in 2013. A Brooklyn native, Joel leads the firm's negotiations, partnerships and investor relationships, and is personally involved in structuring and reviewing its transactions.
Regarded as an artist when it comes to deals, and on a personal level as well, Joel has led Joyland in building a portfolio across Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens, including ground-up developments such as the 270-unit Lorimer House in Williamsburg and The Sixth, a 43-unit condominium building at 133 Kent Avenue. He is also the founder of BridgeCity Capital, the group's real estate lending platform.
Beyond the firm, Joel supports a mission designed to bring life and broad perspective to Torah study, convening world-leading intellectuals, researchers and professors in various Torah disciplines for lectures and roundtable discussions with broad and varied audiences. He also supports a range of other philanthropic causes.
Jack Wolcowitz
Chief Finisher
Chief Operating Officer
Jack Wolcowitz is Chief Operating Officer of Joyland Group and co-founder of Hamilton Eastman, which he launched with Joel Wertzberger in 2013. A Brooklyn native, Jack oversees the day-to-day operations of the platform, spanning property management through Joyland Management and the execution of new development. He has developed over 500,000 square feet of real estate, including ground-up residential projects in Williamsburg such as a planned 65-unit building at 111 South Sixth Street.
Jack is the partner who sees every project through to the finish line. No project or undertaking, at any scale, deters him; with many development projects under his belt, he loves a challenge and is not afraid to fail. Jack is also a partner in ACI, an addiction treatment provider.
Outside the office, Jack lives a life defined by impact and by enjoying every moment of it. He brings the same energy to his family and community that he brings to every project, believing that the best work and the best life are built with purpose, generosity and a genuine love of the journey.
