For years the corner of Metropolitan and Marcy Avenues, beside the entrance to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, held a one-story suburban-style bank set in the middle of a parking lot, an awkward gap in a street of 19th-century row houses.
After the site was acquired in 2020, an eight-story building designed by Kutnicki Bernstein Architects rose in its place, with a rounded glass corner, two set-back upper floors and high-ceilinged retail at street level. Delivered in January 2023, it holds 123 rental residences, 37 of them affordable under the Affordable New York program, plus two commercial spaces. The apartments were fully leased within three months, and the building was sold in July 2023.
